Initiatives

BEE in Kenya has been involved with numerous completed projects and continue to find ways to work in Kenya.  Here are some of our past and current initiatives.

Water Project

Water is life in Kenya and all too often that means walking hours to a dirty water source and hauling jugs.  A well that supplies clean water can mean all the difference.  Not only can the well supply water for the school itself, but it also generates income for the school as they sell water to local residents.

Dormitory for school

Rural Kenya poses many challenges for students.  Daily hikes to/from school can mean the difference between staying in school or dropping out early.  Having a dorm where students can reside enables them to focus on learning.

Teaching Beekeepers

Kenyan beekeepers rarely have the opportunity to render wax or produce products of the hive.  By teaching them techniques on how to render the wax and then in turn produce candles, lotions, balms, body butters, and other products allows them to drastically increase the revenue from beekeeping.

Bio-digester for farm

Collecting firewood for cooking is a time consuming task.  Turning freely available waste from the farm animals into biofuel for cooking or operating generators can improve sustainability on the farm.

Student Sponsorships

One of the most significant challenges for nearly all Kenyan families is acquiring the funds to support their children’s education, especially secondary school and university. The majority of secondary and universities are boarding schools requiring students to travel and pay room and board in addition to school fees.
